I Was Bigfoot’s Love Slave!

Or, how about “Angelina’s Detach from Clone Babies!” (subtitle, “Brad stands by his moll even after UFO abduction…”. Or some such rot. We’ve all seen ‘em at the grocery set aside checkout limit, and we’ve all been extremely tempted to infer from the funnies even if we naturally don’t homelessness to be seen buying one. I once saw a table-up comedy act in which the wag did nothing more than hold up a mimic of the National Enquirer and review off the headlines and sidebar - with suspicion. Then he’d say…

“But that’s NOT the true story! The Genuine story is on messenger [whatever]…” whereupon he’d go crazy to some inside page with an even more offbeat headline and joke. All with a perfectly deadpan pan, fully automated only while reading the macabre details with Shakespearian deliverance. He was so funny I saw the show three times.

Now, most of us in point of fact do know outstrip than to believe the sensationalized storytelling and photoshop creativity in tabloid rags like that. That’s what makes them such shapely comedy fodder. Nor do most of us obtain the magical anti-hex pendants or crystal healing rings or authentic eye of newt certain-love powder advertised in the pages of such rags. But big cheese must be buying all that waste - as well as the tabloids they invest in - and even if we do occasionally get a shame-faced pleasure out of faded reading in the checkout crinkle, most regular people would set forth they don’t recognize anybody who’s very that dumb. Set apart perhaps an odd relative or bunk-mate of a friend.
